Analyzing Survey Results

1. What are you trying to understand with your survey?

1)  Our purpose of this survey was to see what the most popular sports are in Boston. We asked questions about championships, players, facilities, etc..

2. Did the demographic questions you asked help you with understanding the results?

2) We asked two demographic questions. We asked what gender the person taking the survey was and we asked how old they were. It didn't really make a difference when looking at our results.

3. What would you change, if you could, in your survey?

3) If we could change our survey we would probably add more demographic questions to try and see what type of people were answering which ways. We could see what type of people had different opinions on sports in Boston.

4. Is there a difference in the boys results vs. the girls results? Explain.

4) There wasn't much of a difference in the results of the boys than the girls. We didn't really include questions that either gender would distinctively answer differently.

5. What question told you the most from your survey? Explain.

5) I believe that our most important question was which recent Boston championship was their favorite. It shows who likes what sports and what sports are the most popular.

6. What summary can you give if at all about your results. If there are several please separate the results.

6) The Bruins and the Patriots were two of the most favorite sports teams. Fenway and the TD Garden were also tied for most popular sports facility.

7. What is something you liked about this project?

7)  I really liked how we could make the surveys about anything we wanted to. I also liked how we could see what our classmates thought of the things we put in our surveys.

Working with a Partner

I thought that this task was rather easy. Some questions took a couple of minutes to search through Google or other websites to find the answers. Other questions took about thirty seconds to find the answers too. I liked working with a partner. It was much easier than working by myself because we both shared the questions and answered them thoroughly and easily. If i worked by myself if would've taken me double the time that it did. I think it was a fair assessment of chapter three because we had to go over all of the material while simultaneously looking up the answers and researching it.

The Jimmy Fund

There are many prestigious charities in Boston that work with sports teams and their representatives. The Jimmy Fund was founded in 1948 and has raised millions of dollars through thousands of local charity events. This organization solely supports Boston's Dana-Farber cancer institute. The institute raises money for adult and adolescent cancer care, improving the chances of survival for people battling cancer around the world. One main event is the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-telethon. Over the span of 36 hours and two Red Sox games the broadcast shows stories from Dana-Farber doctors, patients, Nurses, celebrity guests, and athletes. Since 2002 this event has raised over 37 million dollars to support research at the Dana-Farber cancer institute.

This event not only broadcasts the Red Sox games for fans but also gives them a little bit more knowledge about cancer and the families affected by it. Telling stories of cancer patients and the doctors is a very good way to make people really understand what they are going through. Having big time Red Sox players like Dustin Pedroia talk about cancer and the major affects it has on peoples lives really make other people think and donate money. This money helps people worldwide and gives the Red Sox a lot of good publicity.
